The Hindu In School, in association with HeyMath! and Raffles Institution, Singapore, for the first time in India, is planning an online maths contest, the RI Maths Challenge 2013, for middle school students from Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

The objective of this contest is to increase interest in mathematics and develop problem-solving abilities. To popularise the contest, registration will be free of cost. The contest is open to students whose schools subscribe to The Hindu In School.

The contest will test the students on their problem-solving, decision-making, analytical and critical thinking skills. Students from Classes 7, 8 and 9 are eligible to participate. The major topics that will be covered are Geometry, Calculation, Counting, Arithmetic and Investigative Problems.

There will be an online model test to help students familiarise with the type of questions asked, testing environment and contest format.

This will be available for a week.
