Film Society screens two documentaries Goddesses and Mathamma by Leena
Manimekalai.
Goddesses
tells the story of three women; Lakshmi, a funeral singer, Krishnaveni, a
grave-digger, and Sethuraku, a fisherwoman.
Mathamma is
a 16 minute documentary about the peculiar customs of the Arunthathiyar
community in a village near Arakkonam, Chennai.
