Coimbatore Peace Festival
Shanti
Ashram will conduct Coimbatore Peace Festival 2013, in an effort to engage
children and young people in peace building initiatives.
Over 1,500 students from 50 schools and colleges, and 50 leaders
of youth organisations will participate in the festival. The objectives of the
festival include observing the 68th year of the bombing of Hiroshima
as a day of prayer and commitment for peace, conducting ‘learning to live
together’ workshop for 200 children, organising inter-generational conversation
on building peace, honouring young volunteers who have led community service
initiatives, and presenting thematic presentations by children and youth.
The occasion will also be used to launch Phase II of ‘Poverty
Solutions’, an initiative by students in eradicating poverty.
