Coimbatore Marathon 2013

Ready to run?

Participants of the 5k run of the Vodafone Coimbatore marathon can collect their bibs and race kits, either in person or through a friend or family member with their registration, e-mail confirmation and an authorisation letter on October 4 at Whispering Stone s , Perks Arch Road at Rajiv Gandhi Nagar between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Participants in the 10k and half marathon categories can collect their bibs and race kits at the pre-marathon expo on October 5 at the Brookefields Mall at Krishnaswamy Road between 9 a.m. and 5.30 p.m . A timing chip will be attached to the back of the bib for participants in these two categories. Participants will have to go to the timing chip verification desk to verify their registration and timing chip. No new registrations will be entertained at the pre-marathon expo or at Nehru Stadium on race day.

Participants will have to arrive 30 to 45 minutes prior to the start of the marathon, as they will have to park at a distance and walk to the starting arch. Wearing the race bib is a must. Parents , who would like to wait for their children to complete the marathon, can go to the “Meet and Greet” area of Nehru Stadium.

IEEE All India Student Congress

The Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) India Council and IEEE Madras Section will host the All India Student Congress 2013.

The annual event brings together young IEEE student and professional members for a series of interacting and networking opportunities.

As many as 330 student delegates from 80 institutions across eight states are attending the invite-only event.

The first three days will include talks by IEEE experts. It will provide impetus for its participants to observe, assimilate and learn from many inspiring sessions.

The main IEEE Society event is the innovative project showcase where 33 projects have been short-listed from numerous submissions that came from across the nation. A live webcast of the congress will be done on all three days.

இதற்கான விழா கோவை, வடவள்ளி, சின்மயா வித்யாலயா வளாகத்தில், அக் 2 ஆம் தேதி மாலை 4 மணிக்கு நடக்கிறது.

A whole week to experience the joy of giving

Rotary Coimbatore Central will organise ‘Aram Seyya Virumbu’, here on October 5 and 6 to mark the ‘Joy of Giving Week 2013’.

The annual festival of giving is observed from October 2 to 8 throughout India and this year will witness 900 events spread across 70 towns and cities. The Club is hosting the week in Coimbatore.

 ‘Aram Seyya Virumbu’ will be held at Sarojini Nataraj Auditorium and will consist of stalls put up by social service organisations.

Those involved in activities involving women’s welfare, environment, sanitation, healthcare, education, rural development, child welfare, physically and mentally challenged children, senior citizen welfare, etc., will participate.

Public who visit the stalls, can contribute in cash or kind or enroll to work as volunteers for any of the organisations.

 “The whole week is dedicated to the spirit of giving. The event is specially organised to provide a platform for service organisations and donors to come face-to-face.

The organisation representatives will get a chance to talk to the visitors about their work and those interested can decide either to donate at the venue or later during special occasions. There will be opportunities for the visitors to sponsor a surgery, a child’s education, enroll as blood donors, or as a volunteer in any organisation. For those who would not be able to visit the event in person, there would be an option of contributing by buying fund-raising coupons worth Rs. 100 each that the organisers were selling through their representatives and college students.

A booklet, complete with details about the organisations, would be distributed to visitors to enable them contact the former at any convenient date.

The Club is also looking at collaborating with corporates, police, Armed Forces, colleges and schools, to make the event reach many people.

Cultural programmes by differently abled children, music programmes by college bands, debates, will be held in the evenings on both the days.
