Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding (IFGTB),
Coimbatore, is organising the first Dr. Kedharnath Memorial Lecture
(KML-2013) on April 4 at 10.30 a.m.
Dr. Kedharnath
was the pioneer tree breeder in the country and was popularly referred
to as the Father of Indian Forest Genetics. He had served as Director,
Biological Research in the Forest Research Institute and Colleges,
Dehradun and was also the Director of Kerala Forest Research Institute –
Peechi.
As part of the silver jubilee celebrations year, IFTB has initiated the memorial lecture.

Nagarajan, Former Chairman, Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers
Rights (PPVFR) authority, Ministry of Agriculture – Government of India,
will be delivering the first Dr. Kedharnath Memorial Lecture series on
“Forging alliance between bio-diversity, genetic resources, tree
improvement and forest management”.
