An essay writing contest will be held here to mark the World Tuberculosis Day.

It is being is being organised by Indian Development Foundation, an NGO that works in Health Education, and Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme, a state-run tuberculosis control initiative.

According to a press release, the topic of the contest is ‘Let’s Stop TB.’ It is open to Standards VIII and IX students of schools in Coimbatore and Tirupur districts.

The essays can be either in English or Tamil and should not exceed 750 words. It must be hand written.

The entries, which must be authorised by the respective school principals, should be sent to the following address before March 18: J. Jesudas (NILES), Project Coordinator, C/o PSG Urban Health Centre, 24/25 Rajalakshmi Colony, TVS Nagar, Coimbatore, 641 025.

The best three entries will get gift cheques worth Rs. 3,250, Rs.2,250 and Rs.1,250. No entry fee.
