teams with Yahoo! India to call for nominations for the second Innovation
Jockeys: The Hunt for India’s most Innovative Minds. Undergraduate
and graduate students across India can submit innovative ideas for using
technologies, such as social media, mobility and analytics, to change the way
industries operate. This year’s contest will focus on Game-Changing
Technology Innovation in Retail, Finance and Public Services, and it aims to
discover bright, young, home-grown innovators — and encourage them to take
responsibility for driving significant change. “We’re looking for
India’s next generation of innovators to make a difference to the way
businesses and society function,” said Bhaskar Ghosh, senior managing director
— Delivery Centers for Technology, Accenture. “ This year’s winners will
be selected by an eminent jury. The winning team will receive a trip to
Accenture Technology Labs, San Jose, California, and an Apple goodie bag.
Apple goodie bags will also be awarded to the best entry in the retail, finance
and public services categories and to the winner of a special category for
digital innovation, “Yahoo! Digital Innovation Jockey.”
The inaugural ‘Innovation Jockeys’ contest drew 1,500
entries from students across 500 colleges in India. It focused on
developing “Everyday Innovations for Home, College and City.” The
winning entry was a belt for the visually impaired that produced vibrations to
let the wearer know the position of his distance from obstacles.
